The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary

Among the few announcements of Satoru Iwata's GDC keynote was that Nintendo hasn't forgotten that this year marked the 25th birthday of The Legend of Zelda.

What exactly is planned to celebrate the occasion is anyone's guess. We know Ocarina of Time is set to show up on 3DS in June, but no date has yet been given for Skyward Sword.

Given Nintendo's handling of Super Mario bros' 25th birthday last year, with the re-release of Super Mario All-Stars as a neat collector's edition, we're driven to believe we might just see the same thing for Zelda: in fact, all they have to do is repackage The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition and call it a day. It'd be (slightly) less of a rip off than selling a 17 year old Super Nintendo ROM for $40. May we suggest adding A Link to the Past and the Game & Watch Zelda to sweeten the deal?

While we're wishing out loud, let's also hope for some affordable Club Nintendo goodies?
